What we collect
BetterTrumpet collects anonymous usage statistics to help improve the app. When you launch the app, it sends one tiny ping to bettertrumpet.com:
- An anonymous unique ID - a random GUID generated on first launch, not linked to your identity
- The BetterTrumpet version (for example 3.2.3)
- The Windows build number (for example 10.0.26200)
- A timestamp of the app launch
What we don't collect
This is the easier list, and the one that matters. The ping deliberately carries none of the following:
- No personal information - no name, no email, and no stored IP address
- No device names or hardware identifiers
- No audio device information
- No app names or usage patterns
- No settings or preferences
How to opt-out
Telemetry is easy to turn off and nothing is sent while it is disabled.
Open BetterTrumpet Settings → About and uncheck Help improve BetterTrumpet. The app stops sending pings immediately, and no telemetry is kept on your machine.
Data retention
Pings are kept for 90 days, then deleted automatically. The counts you see on the public download chart and the anonymous usage statistics never go back further than that window.
