Yes, completely free. There are no paid features, no premium tier, and nothing locked behind a purchase. If you want to support the project you can sponsor it on GitHub.

No. The only data collected is anonymized crash and performance telemetry. When a crash is reported I receive your OS version and basic machine specs to help debug the issue. Nothing else leaves your device.

No. BetterTrumpet is a lightweight add-on that sits on top of existing Windows audio APIs. It is optimized to have near-zero performance impact. The full source code is publicly available for anyone to audit.

Windows 10 and Windows 11 are fully supported. The app relies on modern audio APIs introduced in Windows 10, so older versions are not compatible.

New releases are published on GitHub. The app will notify you when an update is available so you can install it in one click. Auto-update via winget and Chocolatey is also supported if you prefer a package manager workflow.
